Hi there,

Apologies I don't speak French so I will be using Google Translate for my posts. I am sure it will be painful for both of us ;)

I am in the process of fitting the engine from a mrs3 into my mrs2 and I am hoping the experience on this forum can help me to answer some questions I have.

I am from Scotland, in the Glasgow area and have had my R26 for just over 3 years now. Brilliant car on road and on track.

Salut,

Hi ewan,
Some of us speak Shakespear's language, I guess (I do even if I'm not completely fluent)
Hope Google translate will be helpfull and won't do too much errors.
Just one question : why are you trying to fit a M3RS engine in a M2Rs ? Isn't it easier to upgrade your engine ? New turbo plus chip software upgrade for example ?

And welcome on board, dude !

It's a good question, why go for the mrs3 engine?

I was running the mrs3 turbo with 630cc injectors (along with pro alloy FMIC, scorpion sports cat and 3" system) at around 300 bhp/300 lb ft on my mrs2 engine. The power was fantastic and I had finally managed to get a decent top end to the power curve.

Sadly at a track day in Knockhill the engine expired. The piston on cylinder 1 had failed at the ring land in a spectacular way!

So, I had to find a replacement engine and the available mrs2 units were all high mileage and not all that tempting. Instead there are many mrs3 engines around that are low mileage. As the mrs3 engine is more developed than the mrs2 it seemed a good option to try and fit it to my car.

Now that I am half way through the build, it might have been better to just get a rebuilt mrs2 engine which would have been easier!
